In total the Collector Car Price indices tracked 673 sales during Q1 2017 from 61 auction events. Both sales and number of auction events were down compared to Q4 although this is to be expected with the start of each year generally seeing the lowest buyer and seller interest. With that said, almost all indices posted a rise in values.

Note: we are still seeing some adjustment in the CCP100 to account for the increased number of British auctions we now cover (covering a higher volume of cars that make up the index).

Almost all indices rose in Q1 with only British Collectables falling (as we expected due to the adjustments noted above).

Growth since Q4 2016 has been most impressive for German Collectables up 7.5% this quarter. The index is still down 12% compared to this time last year though.

In fact all indices are down compared to the end of Q1 2016. Ignoring British Collectables, Blue Chips have also faired particularly badly, down 14% for the year, although up for the quarter by almost 6%.

As such we saw the CCP100 regain some ground in Q1 up 3.4%, pushing it closer to a 200% gain since 2004.

Two Ferrari F50’s sales in one quarter! The market has been spoilt. The F50 holds a special place in my heart, and as the data shows, the markets too – prices continue to grow month-on-month.
